The summit in Jordan this week has proved that a solution to the Palestinian problem is the group's main goal. Reaffirming the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, the summit undercut Israel’s proposal of a regional peace in which normalisation with some Arab countries would precede a deal with the Palestinians. The concept of a “pro-Western axis” has become an anachronism.
