New nation-state bill revokes Arabic's ‘official language’ status; declares Israel is ‘the national home of the Jewish people’ and that ‘the right to realise self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people’. But softened bill doesn’t subordinate democracy to the state’s Jewish character.

Israel’s leadership appears to have diverted from Theodor Herzl’s path. Instead of striving to create equality and a common ground, it is doing everything in its power to incite and divide for the sake of a few more votes.
