Israel and Saudi Arabia share common interests but these can only be expressed if the Saudis take a leading role in moving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process toward a statehood based on their 2002 initiative, with the United States, Egypt and the Arab League engaging as well.

Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the two leaders underscored the enduring importance of the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, and underlined the necessity of reaching a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement to the conflict based on two states living side-by-side in peace and security.   They also encouraged both parties to take steps to preserve and advance the two-state solution. 



Warns that Middle East is crumbling under Islamic extremism. Mahmoud Abbas rejected Netanyahu's call from a joint French-Palestinian cabinet meeting in Paris.
