Using shmita as an environmental framework, Aytzim’s Green Zionist Alliance persuaded the World Zionist Organisation and its constituent agencies to develop seven-year climate-action plans to reduce their carbon footprints, to prohibit fossil-fuel extraction, including fracking, on all KKL-JNF land and to oppose fossil-fuel extraction projects elsewhere when Israel’s water resources are at risk.
