The Australian Zionist Youth Council, AUJS and the Australian Jewish News hosted a debate on Sunday night between the three candidates for the new seat of Macnamara in the forthcoming federal election.

Josh Burns (ALP), Kate Ashmor (Lib) and Steph Hodgins-May (Greens), debated a broad range of subjects in Glen Eira Town Hall, Caulfield.

Subjects discussed included security at Jewish schools, synagogue, Palestinian statehood, discrimination in schools on the basis of gender identity, pill testing, the inclusion of the far-right into mainstream politics, Medicare and mental health funding, climate change and the meaning of Zionism.

There was also a specific question directed at Steph Hodgins-May about an anti-Zionist social media post by a Greens staffer, which was reported in the media last week.
